Aapko hardik shubhkamnaye – Heartiest Congratulations for the new plant

Spheros has opened a new plant in Noida, thereby realizing a significant increase in production area and capacity.

For the past eight years Spheros has been represented in India by its subsidiary Spheros Motherson Thermal System Ltd. (SMTL) with a complete product and service programme. The positive overall trends and continued growth course have now necessitated the relocation of its headquarters to larger premises. The official opening ceremony took place on Thursday, 22 May.

Focusing on the customer

With a floor area of 2,500 m² the modern factory, designed according to lean criteria, is twice the size of its predecessor. It enables the production capacity to be increased to 5,000 air conditioning units per year and export logistics to be optimised.

The Noida plant is primarily responsible for the development, manufacture and testing of the CC and Aerosphere series of air conditioning units for India and the SAARC states. The CC 275 rooftop unit specially developed for tropical countries with a capacity of 30 kW is brand new on the market. A further focus lies on the manufacture of roof hatches.

In addition, at the new location SMTL has set up a customer support centre with its own workshop and training centre for customers, dealers, OEM engineers and technicians. The testing facilities for air conditioning systems and vehicles will be successively extended and technically competent support provided for clearances required for the process and field trials. The main focus will be placed on the conversion and retrofitting of buses previously without air conditioning.

“This move is another major milestone in the Spheros Motherson joint venture. Since its founding in 2006 we have managed to establish Spheros as the best-known brand of bus air conditioning systems with all OEMs as well as state-owned and private transport undertakings throughout India,” says Cyril Xavier, Chief Operating Officer Spheros Motherson Thermal System Ltd. “Today SMTL holds a 30% share of the Indian bus air conditioning market and over 50% in the city bus segment!”
